James L. Neal

1989– joined Metzler North America Corp.

James L. Neal is CEO and President of Metzler North America Corp. and is responsible for the business development and oversight of the real estate portfolio design and implementation process for Metzler’s institutional and private clients. He is the co-portfolio manager of the Metzler/Payden International Real Estate Fund. Under Mr. Neal’s leadership Metzler N.A. has acquired, developed, leased and sold assets totaling more than US$8 billion.

Prior to establishing Metzler N.A. Corp. as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bankhaus Metzler in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, Mr. Neal was Vice President Portfolio Management with SAFECO Properties, Inc., responsible for the origination, underwriting and negotiation of non-discretionary debt and equity investments for separate account clients, including Bankhaus Metzler.

Mr. Neal is a member of the Seattle Executive Council and Program Chair of the Urban Land Institute, a member of AFIRE, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), and the Pacific Real Estate Institute. He is also on the Board of the St. Martin’s Programs in Seattle.

Mr. Neal received a BA in Finance and Accounting from Pacific Lutheran University and has completed numerous ULI and ICSC-sponsored courses in finance, development and portfolio management, in addition to participating in the Executive Summer Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Center for Real Estate.
